my favourite insect

the travel bug has made its silent appearance, and i've been bitten BIG TIME! ah, one day i'll just leave my current job and get another which PAYS me to travel. how awesome will that be???

i know i will enjoy my trips that much more this year, because they are so well-deserved and so necessary. some might say it's a luxury to go overseas, but i beg to differ; when you live, work, and (sometimes) play in a place as tiny as this, finding an escape route is mandatory to keep one's sanity. i don't understand how some people can just live in an area and NEVER venture out to the other parts of the island; hello, this place is only 46km wide, and you tell me that you never go to the east/west/north (depending on which tiny area you call your neighbourhood)??? gosh.

besides, shopping in s(ingapore is becoming an increasingly boring, exasperating, futile, and time- and money-wasting exercise. am i getting old, or are shops everywhere selling the same stuff? sure, it happens in seo^ul as well, but at least the repetitive merchandise are pretty, albeit pricey. oh, and the crowds! tourists elbowing you indiscriminately, scantily-clad teenagers laughing raucously INTO your ear at pedestrian crossings, little brats running around everywhere getting underfoot. this is why i like to wear heels to town; gives me more air to breathe, even if it's imaginary.

it's ok, i don't need to make excuses to explain why i'll be getting immigration stamps from three countries this december; i'm just going to make sure i enjoy every damn second of it, because 2011 is going to be even crazier than the bastard called 2010, who is thankfully leaving soon.

happy traveling y'all!
