when people perform below our expectations, we berate them for not being efficient; and when they perform ABOVE expectations, a sarcastic tirade soon follows, inevitably peppered with pointlessly vicious phrases like 'spoil market' and 'unnecessarily competitive'.
we're never satisfied with simple pleasures; no, let me correct that statement. we cannot STAY satisfied with simple pleasures. sooner or later, doubt starts to creep in, and we scream to ourselves OMGWHATAMIDOINGWITHMYLIFE??? what's so wrong about a river set afire by the setting sun, a cow grazing lazily on green pastures, the smell of the wind on a sunny day? butterflies next to the picnic mat, a simple meal shared with a loved one?
we want to be recognised for our good work, but start to buckle under the pressure when we are loaded with responsibilities, we being the reliable and capable youth of tomorrow. oh, make sure nobody else can see how frantically you're wading under the water just to keep afloat, because, remember, others see only what they want to see, and weakness is never popular. especially when you are supposed to be confident capable decisive (insert own adjective here).
it's never enough! we always want more more MORE. when will it ever stop, this insatiable greed?
