it's been really warm these past few days; the humidity is suffocating me. i start perspiring almost as soon as i step out of the cold shower, and feel like i'm stuck in an unwanted embrace constantly. what i wouldn't give for icy winds and SNOW. sigh.
went down to watch my class play (and lose) ICG netball today- it would have been nice to play but i admit there were better players in my class, and if that's what it takes to win a game, then why not? i'm just thankful that at least in my supposed-sport i'm normally in the first 6. and i apologise (to whoever la) for all the times i prayed to be a sub and complained that i had to start the ball... again. cuz i think it feels much worse to sit at the sidelines watching your team lose, knowing there isn't much you can do about it. or the referee.
sportsmanship is definitely a two-way thing, yes? even if the referee is a cmoplete idiot, i always wanted to think that sportsmanship will stop us, or more accurately, me, from taking advantage of the situation. but honestly, how many times have i asked the referee before a game if we were playing advantage, how many times have i made use of changeovers to mount the next attack? i suppose we all have a sadistic streak in us that drives us to completely crush our opponents, even when we know that all things are in our favour. on one hand, sportsmanship is about respecting our opponents and giving our utmost in games, even if we greatly outpower them. but on the other hand, how fair is it NICE is it to be pushing and jostling at an icg match? future teachers? ha.
anyway how do we determine fairness in a game?
i guess the trick is to not bother getting myself into a twist over mundane things; it's just games, let it go. like mr. K said, there are 365 days in a year- no point sweating the small stuff. wise words from a wise man.
and i learnt a lesson last night; sometimes, being nice is pointless. and i shall just leave it at that.
a shocker today was the death of a celebrity; i'm not a fan per se, but what a waste.
