1. what i want to hear might not always be what others are willing to be generous enough to say.
2. in a decent conversation, the first person singular personal pronoun should NOT make up more than 30% of the words spoken.
3. once-common interests and Weltanschauung can, and do, become divergent over time. respect personal choices, and the favour will definitely be returned. (not applicable to parental units and/or other financial and emotional stakeholders in your life)
4. show of concern, even through cheap words that carry no weight, is infinitely better than none. when someone asks if you're alright/okay, make sure to return the question.
5. alone time is good. make sure to set aside some time for yourself everyday, even if just to lie around doing nothing important. with loneliness comes contemplation, and with contemplation comes realization, and with realization comes wisdom.
