my sleeping cycle is screwed up... again. and school's starting in 3 days' time with a morning lesson on monday morning yipee yay yay DIE
i intended to have my very first post in 2008 filled with insightful comments, sprinkled with little nuggets of witty wisdom, and most relevantly, be optimistic. but like new year resolutions and empty promises, i guess that intention just sort of melted and faded away. how dare i say hello to 2008 when i haven't quite let go of 2007?
it was a pretty darn good year; entered nie, made more friends, got a roomie, traveled my ass off in december. so far things are going well, i don't want to crash and burn away. not now, not when everything looks nice and rosy. but then again, that's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?
with the onset of another year, i'm getting older. and getting older means growing up, although the two aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. what i'd like to do is to become more mature, but not lose childish satisfaction with the small and simple things in life. like daily wake-up calls from him, trudging to school in the mornings barely awake with roomie and whining for coffee, breathing the gentle night air when i go running, laughing with friends and getting high and doing stupid things, a lone flower in the midst of a grass patch. bright, sunny days when i can run around and play games, cooking for loved ones, lazing around in hall in between lessons, cold beer in the fridge. the snug familiarity of security, waiting for the 12th of every month and splurging on a nice dinner. bubble tea on hot days, shopping for retail therapy. kissing evie and ling jie jies, terrorising various PE coursemates suddenly in the canteen. talking to random strangers, making friends unexpectedly. getting sticky hugs and kisses from my sister, ice cream on rainy days, falling asleep while reading, air conditioned rooms.
i suppose many (but definitely not the best) good things in life are free. but problem is, we don't always realise the true value of things; like the little prince said, on ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux
perhaps that should be my resolution, new year or not. oh, and also, to be zipping around town in a cute little (low petrol consumption mah) car by the end of this year; or at least have the license to do so. tee hee.
have a great one, y'all!
