why?

it's so boring when people say that things happen for a reason. whether, to paraphrase extremely loosely, it's a circumstance put in place via divine intervention or a bucket of shit we land ourselves in through our own mistakes/flaws/carelessness/_________ (insert your own word here), it's almost like we are supposed to emerge from whatever nonsense we find ourselves in with something. wisdom? strength of character? experience?

what if i find myself no different, having come out of it, from the time before? does that make my trials and tribulations any less significant or important? does that make me a weak character? does it mean that, since i have learned nothing, not only did i deserve whatever i have suffered, but will probably land myself in a similar situation again?

if nothing is expected from happiness, contentment, or even joy, then why do we torture ourselves even further by saying that hey, now that you're in a difficult place, not only are you supposed to overcome it and struggle your way out of it, you're also expected to LEARN something.

BECAUSE THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON.

but that's absolute rubbish; not everything happens for a reason. there WILL be some days, weeks, months, or even years (cue Friends theme song) when you're just fucked, and honestly, there are enough things to think about in life without having to tell yourself that every single event in your life happens because of some other related cause or other.

because life is complicated enough as it is. so. cut yourself some slack, and remember to breathe.
