randomity on a tuesday night

this thought just wandered into my mind.

more than passion, more than romance, more than adoration, more than infatuation.

what we need in our relationships to make it lasting and strong is to be polite to each other. perhaps i'm not phrasing this quite correctly, but i think the first cracks start to appear when we start taking each other for granted. why politeness, you ask?

i believe that with politeness comes attentiveness, and with attentiveness comes care and concern. being polite means being considerate, being considerate means always thinking of the other person before yourself. in a perfect world we'd all think of others and in a happy circle of circumstance everyone will be satisfied. but then again aren't we surrounded by selfish jerks we sometimes call ourselves.

some might argue and say that love transcends all selfishness and makes us one with our loved ones and this means that loving ourselves = loving him/her. what bullocks. better still, try to convince me that sheer passion/romance/insert your own Hal^lmark emotion is sufficient to sustain a mature and fulfilling relationship between two people.

when did social niceties go out of fashion? blame modernity!

so. be nice to each other, be polite, be in love.*

*note to self.

BY THE WAY.

i still don't understand why people cannot buy, like, a hugeass lorry and turn the space behind into a room or something. build walls, a roof, and voila! who needs to rent when you can have a room-on-the-go? roomie said it can't be done because then you wouldn't be able to see what's behind while you're reversing the truck. but that's why god allowed man to invent those nifty cameras that let you see the back, as seen on coach buses.

i still think it's possible. so there.
