twee ching had a popcorn craving so we went to watch mam*ma mia at j^p today. pretty simple but randomly refreshing logic that one has to watch a movie to eat popcorn, if i may say so. and... WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME MAM*A MIA IS AN EFFING MUSICAL???
so it was like...
me: twee ching!! she looks like she's gona start singing!!
twee ching: traumatised-into-silence-mode
singing erupts

aye. but now that i think back, it was quite a nice movie.. in a totally inane and brainless way. if someone who looks like pierce brosnan comes and asks me to marry him when i'm well into my middle ages saddled down with a crumbling 'mansion' about to marry my barely legal daughter- whom i conceived in a lottery of three random summer romance encounters- off to a possibly selfish sod, well well who am i to refuse. and the setting was sho pretty; who doesn't want to soak up the sun in such a picturesque greek town?
so. even if the movie wasn't one of those makes-you-leave-the-cinema-suicidal variety, and despite the incessant and sudden eruption of songs which happened more frequently than pimples across an acne-prone teenager, i wouln't say it was $6 wasted (cuz twee ching has the popcorn card!)
just a thought i had...
people change all the time; in life, in relationships. and as soon as the status of the relationship changes, sometimes (actually, seems like MOST of the time) the dynamics of the relationship shift, and you're left with someone who isn't really the one you fell in love with. perhaps it is sudden epiphanies like these that make me so irritated with silly romantic movies; in life, things just don't work that way. falling in love isn't that easy, and truly happy endings are so rare.
as we grow older, do we start debunking the idea of love? and this is a cliche i've heard too often, but perhaps the idea of loving an imperfect person perfectly is better than looking for the perfect love. but that's so cheesy; perfection is reserved only for the gods, how dare we, mere mortals, ever aspire to attain it.
thank you YOU for loving imperfect me so completely and constantly =)
