Dear Nike,
Today, my friends and I spent a total of five hours in the queue to collect my race pack. For a run that will probably last no more than an hour, two tops.
While we were lining up in the queue that snaked longer than a thousand-year old anaconda, we asked ourselves; if you knew that 10,000 people had signed up for the run, then why, pray tell, were there only ten counters open? Also, we do not understand the wisdom of having the race pack collection days on sunday and monday. Perhaps international sports conglomerates like yourselves have done detailed research- which explains the increasing price of your shitty but overpriced pieces of clothes you like to call 'running gear'-and decided that making people waste one whole weekend day in a queue with the annoying emcee blaring inanities will infinitely enhance your brand image.
Why sign up for such runs? For charity, for the thrill of the run, for the tshirt.
But definitely not for the experience we had today. When we approached the staff to give feedback and ask about the severe inefficiency in handling the volume of the crowd, all we got were insincere apologies and finger pointing.
C'mon, people. If you have the guts to charge customers $60 for a lousy pair of shorts, I'm sure you can afford better customer service than that. Better still, more counter staff and less waiting time. Even if you use cheap labour in third-world countries, I believe this is not the way to increase profits.
Because customers believe that some things are more valuable than money.
Time, for one. Good customer service, for another.
Good luck for the next run you hope to organise in Singapore, because as the saying goes, once bitten, twice shy. The fact that your goodie bag is nothing much to write home about does not help, either.
love,
ex-Nike fan

on a brighter note...
was randomly blog surfing mindlessly cuz i REFUSE to go listen to the super boring english lecture online, just to post up something that smacks of reasonable coherence and intelligence.
and realised that many people have this little sidebar that lists out their wants.
AND THEN i realised- if you were to ask me right now if there's anything i want now, i'd have to say no.
cuz even before i have the chance to really want anything, YOU get them for me.
great, now i sound materialistic. but i just want YOU to know that it's not really what YOU buy me per se that makes me cherish YOU, but the very fact that YOU always make sure i'm never lacking for anything that i appreciate.
even if i'm lacking in many aspects.
so.
thank you dear
