BookWormsAnonymous

stormed page one today and bought a few books; incredible is the length of time i can actually spend in that place. how nice if i had that many books in my own home next time. oh well it's always nice to dream; all i ask for is a study of my own, with wall-to-wall bookshelves. no need fireplace la just a super plush and comfy armchair for me to curl up in, a place i can call my own to insulate me from the outside world.

was actually looking for Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, but true to murphy's law they had so many other fantastic books but that one. war and peace? check. crime and punishment? check. lolita? check. sons and lovers? check. they even had adrian mole's latest! disappointed!

what sense does it make when i go to a shop to use up a $5 voucher, only to spend over $80+ on books? oh well, trends come and go, and so do relationships; but books are forever! shoes spoil, so do electronics; flowers wilt, and careers flounder. but never books!

but i agree that books suck up all your time and give you bad eyesight, especially when read non-stop, into the wee hours, under dim lighting.

on the other hand, worse is the fact that less people turn to reading as a recreational pursuit; indeed, we're spoilt for choice when it comes to immediate gratification as far as satisfying our boredom is concerned these days. but rather than squeezing with 320948325938475 other people in a darkened room, looking up at a giant screen with moving pictures, i'd rather be seduced by the promise of satisfaction a good book never fails to deliver.
