God, please please let me pass my PPT so that i can go to N*IE in July and check out all the hotties in P*ESS. oops, i mean, so that i can broaden my knowledge and better equip myself to impart wisdom to my students.
God, if i were to move to another country for a few years, please let it be Hong Kong. Because you know i can, and probably will, live on lovely dim sum (especially the pillow-soft thousand layer cake) that costs less than 4 bucks per bamboo tier, and pass out after walking all night under the neon lights in Mongkok.
Hong Kong left a pretty deep impression on me. I found it amazing how humans can squeeze into such teeny tiny matchboxes they call homes in kowloon, and yet how the rich and famous can afford gorgeous hillside mansions over at repulse bay. Such a huge income gap left me feeling oddly hollow. Sure, we have the HDB-ers (?) and the private property gap here as well, but at least people here don't have to wait 9 years for a government flat that's only as big as half the tour bus. People here don't have to contend with super crowded streets that seperate otherwise-kissing run-down buildings that are cloaked during the night by the whorish neon lights but are exposed as ugly as a bad hangover during the day. We have clean water here, water that doesn't leave your hair feeling dirty and oily even after being wached more than 3 times. Children don't have to walk to school admist the choking morning traffic along nathan road, and certainly it pays to be effectively bilingual. But honglish sounds cute haha oh ya. People here actually eat chilli- i almost died la 5 days without chilli.
BUT. We don't have dirt-cheap, super delicious dim sum here. (Ya i cannot get over the dim sum.) We don't have streets after streets of vibrant night markets (Bugis doesn't count la too cramped). We don't get gorgeous spring weather- windy, chilly, NICE. I could go on and on, but if you haven't been already, go to HK already; the leng zhais are waiting for you! hahaha
HanNy wants to go to Bangkok next. Probably in June. :)
