i watched 2 movies this week! sho happy. :) Narnia on wed with yiling kailing & ian, and King Kong just just now with wilson bazoooo tzan ruey & jason! ^^

SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT

Chronicles of Narnia; The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe:

i like. even at the risk of losing the bet with clinton (forgot the wager already so doesn't count? haha) i HAD to watch it even before it officially opened. this is one movie i really wanted to catch, because it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that i learnt english reading the series. nice. but as usual, the celluloid version failed to match up to the book. sigh. like Gone With The Wind, but that's a whole different gripe all together.

The Good:
  • Peter MY High King, of course. ok i always develop crushes on literary characters. Ashley la, Peter la, too many to name, and too shy. haha!
  • the Beavers!! sho cute!!!
  • the centaurs. being sagittarius rocks. all you other signs are just jealous.
  • Lucy- although some parts i thought she looked like a menacing retard.. but she was pretty good.
  • how they managed to portray dear Mr Tumnus so nicely, and how the Talking Beasts did not sound ridiculous.
  • the witch. damn cool can! but she looked more kickass as Gabriel in Constantine, methinks.
  • the battle scene; sho nice, but sho sad in certain parts where people get injured.
  • seeing Cair Paravel. it was grander than i'd ever imagined, but not quite.
  • Aslan's voice.

The Bad:

  • lame scenes. 1) when Peter gets knighted for slaying the wolf. a bit out of point. 2) when Susan and Lucy hang around Aslan at the Stone Table, dilly dallying while MY king peter is putting his life on the line.
  • inconsistent acting; i cannot fault the actor who played peter- love, especially literary ones, is blind. but i couldn't help but feel that a certain chemistry was lacking, especially between the white witch and the rest of the cast. hmmm.
  • time travelling? how come Aslan was slain in the dead of the night, the girls run to him at dawn and he resurrects in late morning, and the battle is in the afternoon?

The Ugly:

  • Susan. never liked her, complaining and whining all the time, tryint to act all grown up. to paraphrase peter, she's not trying to be realistic. she's trying to act smart.
  • Lucy in certain scenes. when i saw her the first time, my reaction was to recoil in horror. oh sweet mother of god.. but as the movie went on, she kinda grows on you.

but i liked the movie. and if you think it sucked or wasn't that good, shaddup. haha

King Kong

ok. let me say outright that i didn't really enjoy the movie. why?

  1. horrible, horrible seats; the seat had too little cushioning, and there was too much space between the rows, which meant that i was in a weird posture, which resulted in a backache. wilson somemore complain not enough leg room. shaddup la ok you= tall, me= not tall. ok? grrr.
  2. too long. i fell asleep in the first hour can! ok, i'm tired, but still, i don't usually fall asleep in movies. the last movie i fell asleep during was The Hulk. 'nuff said.
  3. ugly leading lady. those of you who think she's hot, shaddup. like wilson said, she's a poor man's nicole kidman. 'the beauty killed the beast'? oh puhh-lease.
  4. inconsistencies. how come the 'live' show was in the night, but when king kong broke free and started his climb up the Empire State Building, the sky was a beeyooteeful mixture of the warmest oranges and loveliest purples? bluff people one.
  5. as jason pointed out, naomi watts' indestructible skimpy satin nightgown. wah can run, slide around, climb and jump in that little thing, and not a tear nor a wadrobe malfunction in sight. can find the supplier and give lobang to the armed forces.
  6. bazooo la! laugh at all those parts where i was horrified; laugh when people kena chased by dinosaurs, laugh when people being eaten by bugs, laugh when king kong die, laugh laugh laugh. slap his nepalese face. haha
  7. still swooning from Narnia hur hur

but king kong was really life-like- technology is really wonderful these days! but 3 hours (2 more like, actually) of watching an oversized gorilla going gaga over an ugly woman isn't really my idea of a first-class entertainment. now i truly understand why derrick was so skptical when i said i wanted to go watch king kong.

Han Na: Derrick! i'm going to watch king kong! sho exciting! ^^

Derrick (poker faced): huh? dear are you sure you want to watch the show?

Han Na: *whine* ya i waaaaaant. i think it'll be nice.

Derrick: ok dear.
